Homework 1 - recap

Please read the following notes on the first homework assignment, which was due this morning at 8:00am.

  1. As of this moment, seven students have not submitted their work.

  2. Four students had work returned for resubmission because they did not follow the naming instructions. Following naming instructions may seem like a trivial offense at this stage but bear in mind that when you write to another source's interface (be that a co-worker's or another company's) you will need to play by their rules. Get used to following naming conventions and using the class names you are given now before you develop poor programming habits.

  3. Four other student submitted very good work on the first try!

  4. A couple of students submitted files that looked suspiciously similar, down to a non-capitalized "september". Take this as fair and final warning that cheating will not be tolerated. If necessary, review the college's Academic Integrity Code, specifically items 2 and 3 under Student Obligations/Academic Violations.

  5. I received an email from an AOL account today. It was deleted unread, according to the policy stated in the first class. If that was your homework, you'll need to send it again - using your Brookdale email account.

  6. Only send me the .java files. I will compile and run your code myself so there is no need to send the .class files.

  7. Don't send .zip files. The email server sometimes strips zipped files and your homework/labs may not get delivered.
